CHRIS + CORY | Southern Illinois Engagement Photographer
Esther Bloom Engagement Photography
I wasn't kidding when I posted that this day was one of the most challenging days of my photography career. Can I be completely transparent? This shoot started off amazing & in a few short minutes I was ready to crawl in a hole...you see my camera stopped working. This had never happened before & I was panicked. I thought for sure my battery pack on camera was full and it had read that my extra battery pack was low. So I thought no big deal.....well I was wrong. It was BOTH! Then, I thought its ok Ill grab my extras from my camera bag...NOPE! I had recently been working with my associate (sister) Tabitha & I didn't realize I put the extras in the battery bag, which was with her about an hour away. So, I told the couple what had happened and we jumped in the car & headed to town. I thought I will grab my charger at the studio and let it charge for just a bit then we can finish. Well as we were at the studio & I see that it is indeed at my home out in the country we were stopped by a stranger walking down the road who wanted to talk & talk & talk about photography & his entire life story. While I normally would love to chat about it THIS WAS NOT THE TIME. I was already freaking out on the inside & it seemed like every single roadblock that could happen was. 10 minutes later we start heading out to my home. The entire way to my home I prayed for God to just take over because I clearly wasn't in control that day. So we went where the grass needed cut, broken lawnmower in the yard...messy porch & my home was a mess (anyone that knows me knows I like the house to be clean & organized for ANYONE that comes over) We sat in my messy living room while the batteries charged & somehow in 15 min time the battery was ready to go. That has NEVER charged so fast & I am still saying it was a God thing. We hurried up just before sundown and managed to finish their session. We laughed and laughed about the crazy hurdles that had happened but I will be honest when I say it was probably one of my favorite engagement sessions of all time. Everything worked when I finally let go & let God take over. I was a mess but he worked thru my mess and made this day the most beautiful. The lighting was gorgeous & we wouldn't have had that if we had stayed at the previous location.
Chris + Cory are such a joy to be around and I am so thankful they were so gracious & kind during this shoot. They couldn't be more perfect for each other & I just have to point out that stunning UNIQUE engagement ring!!!! I was obsessed. Have a wonderful time in the Dominican on your destination wedding. I pray you have the most amazing trip!
