WALK TO END LUPUS NOW | Southern Illinois Photographer Living With Lupus
Lupus Foundation of America | St.Louis Heartland Chapter
This weekend has left me speechless so I will do my best. It is very hard to put into words what this has all meant to me & my family. I have never felt so loved in my entire life. It all started because my husband decided to surprise me by making a team and signing us up to walk in the St.Louis Heartland Chapter. When I found out I was absolutely amazed at his giving heart & how he spent hours upon hours working on fundraising, t-shirts, fish fry, organizing, and just pouring in so much love into this. He truly is a gift & I do not know what I would do without him. Devoted is the word that I would use to describe him & I am so thankful for all of the sacrifices he has made for me when he didn't have to. He has given to me so selflessly, regardless of what I've been able to give him in return. He also got all of my family & friends involved who each went out of their way to raise & donate money to the Lupus Foundation of America in hopes of finding a cure. 56 people came to walk......56. Each person has really touched my heart so deeply that they would care enough to support me in this way. For that I am forever grateful. I hope I to be able to do this each year and bring more awareness to this awful disease so that others will never have to experience it themselves.
One of my greatest supporters...my son Axel. He has taken care of me from the beginning. I don't think he will ever know how much he has meant to me or how strong he has made me when I didn't think I could carry on. He is much wiser & stronger than most.
We were asked to join in and help with a video they are making for the Lupus Foundation of America...being interviewed is NOT my thing but we made it through. I couldn't have done it without him!
Jonathan & my Aunt Rachel each won a trailblazer award for raising over $1000 each. As a team we raised over $5000. We came in 2nd place & there were over 130 teams participating. I'd say we had a pretty great start!
A special THANK YOU to Lisa Rapp (my studio wife) for coming & photographing this experience for us. You are such a blessing to me & I appreciate your time & talent so very much.
My family never ceases to amaze me. Each of my siblings and their families along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews....they are supportive on a daily basis. My parents have never doubted me & have always been the first in line to see that I get whatever I need with my treatments. They have fought relentlessly for me. I am incredibly blessed to have them as I realize not everyone is so lucky.
As some of you may know, Lupus runs in my fathers side of the family. From a Great Grandmother Rosa, Great Aunt Rosalee, Cousin Beckie, & my beautiful Grandmother Minnie (whom was not officially diagnosed but had all of the same symptoms.) I would love to end the cycle of this disease in our family & help find a cure. Thank you for sharing in that HOPE.
Afterwards we celebrated at Chevys in Ofallon, IL. I have to say they were AMAZING!!!
I will continue this fight as long as the good Lord sees fit & I will not give up. I have a lot to fight for & I want to make y'all proud.
IF THEY HUMBLE THEMSELVES BEFORE ME
THEN WILL I MAKE WEAK THINGS BECOME STRONG.
